What Is A "Toy" Library? Can It Help Children With Disabilities?
May 12, 2014
A toy library is exactly what it sounds like! It is a library full of toys for kids. Heather and Edward Bennett both helped establish an adaptive toy library in Ohio called Katelyn's Kloset. They named it after their 19-month-old daughter, Katelyn who was born with spina bifida, a birth defect in which vertebrae are not fully developed. The couple created the idea of a toy library after struggling with medical costs and finding adapted toys for their daughter. The toy library is stocked with toys that will help children with disabilities with their motor skills. Read more about Katelyn's Kloset here, here, and here.
