It's clear that LEGO has finally realized that females need to be appropriately represented in their toys. LEGO released a set called "Ideas Research Institutue" on August 1st that featured three female scientists. The set sold out the same day it was relseased.
The 20$ kit includes a female astronomer, paleontologist and chemist. It comes equiped with a mini chemistry set, dinosaur skeleton, sky map, and telescope.
The set seems to please the angry LEGO fans who were sending in letters, complaining about the lack of female figures in the children's toy. Charlotte Bengamin, a 7 year-old wrote a letter to the company. In the letter Charlotte wrote "I love legos," but mentioned that there were no girl figures for her to play with. She said that the ones that were availible just "sit at home, go to the beach, and shop," while the boy characters "saved people, had jobs, even swam with sharks!"
